Before anything else, here are my works for this year’s (2015) Art Fair Philippines:
Purely for documentation (because categorized under My Shows too)
A Crack and A Pop – 3′ x 4′ – Acrylic on Canvas (2015)
The Space Race – 4′ x 3′ – Acrylic on Canvas (2015)
to my future biographer, you’re welcome. HAHA *feeler*
NOW, back to ArtFairPH15 : it was a 4 day event so (for the convince of it all) let’s segregate this post by days.
The first day started at about 230 PM but it was only for VIPs, which I found out that morning that I was not.
totally cool, no problem ha ha
anyway, my date and I went had dinner so that’s always a plus. She referred to People’s Palace as affordable — yeah. as you guessed, she’s not an (starving) artist hahaha
Us again trying to tell Mang Jaimer (gallery’s driver. yeah ~fancy name. haha) to take a decent picture of us with my work. I guess he preferred tita Elaine’s work. haha
I wasn’t able to go around that much that day and also on the second day — too busy mingling. ha ha
My sister and I allotted the day 3 to really look at each booth. Telling you guys now : WRONG MOVE. Remember most Galleries change their displays everyday.
Let’s move on. Here’s to better life choices in 2016. But yey, we have half a year to make bad choices.
ZEAN CABANGIS – he had a solo show under Art Informal.
Spent a little time at the Fair but was mostly at a satellite exhibition.
SURROUNDED BY WATER – group show held in Finale Art File, Pasong Tamo
Best part : there was a dog in shoes! haha kidding
It was a very good show. Here are a bunch of pictures:
which are not really helpful because I forgot to take note of the names.
(I won’t put the names of the ones I do remember because I don’t trust my memory)
a.k.a. art overload day
Manufacturer’s Advice: Content May Vary – TIN-AW GALLERY
Zean Cabangis – ART INFORMAL
Mariano Ching and Yasmin Sison – Special Exhibitions under Silverlens Galleries
They’re married — here’s to hoping to be an artist couple.
kidding. Let’s diversify my future kids’ (if any) skills
Tad Ermitano – Special Exhibitions
I couldn’t really stay there long because di uso ata yung hanging dun and it smelled
— which I later found out was because of the worms that they later cooked
Maria Taniguchi – Special Exhibitions under Silverlens Galleries
You can take one home. So people took one or like a hundred.
Kawayan de Guia – Special Exhibitions
After the art fair, this piece was also showed in Paris
FROM THIS POINT ON, I will only put the gallery names.
Give me a break, it’s been 3 months. but I’ll try my best to find the names
VINYL ON VINYL
I liked his show but it was very heavy.
I remember Alwin from his show in West Gallery the year before and I really liked it. If you saw it, well this show is similar but on steroids. (bigger, more stuff, more everything)
(L-R) Patricia Eustaquio, Martha Atienza, Allan Balisi
(above) Corinne de San Jose, (L-R), Wawi Navarroza, Hanna Pettyjohn
Detail of my brother’s work
Louie Cordero, Nilo Ilarde, MM Yu
Gino Bueza, MM Yu
FINALE ART FILE
Amy Aragon, Wire Tuazon
RM de Leon
Part of my “to own in the future” list. Either to buy or steal from my dad’s haha kidding.
EDOUARD MALINGUE GALLERY
There were some international galleries. Surprised that there were a few because I didn’t know we (the Philippines) were in their radar. Plus this fair was about Philippine contemporary art but no hating here. I was just surprised.
EQUATOR ART PROJECTS
This is where I bought my first art fair purchase! Well, it was just a patch.
This was the first year (from my knowledge) that the Drawing Room focused on one artist.
Pow Martinez and Jayson Oliveria
They actually sold those coconuts but not sure if for 20 Euros.
Annie Cabigting – Special Exhibitions under Finale Art File
one of my favorites : artist, person and show
These 2 were the pieces most commented at by my friends (who mostly don’t frequent art exhibits).
It was generally the many variations of “art ba yan?” Well. This debate can go on forever.
Allan Balisi, Jonas Eslao
Since this was a person long post, ill separate the West Gallery – Art Fair 2015 post.
Plus, I am very biased to me dad’s gallery. #lovelocal haha
